Well, as of the twelfth of this month, WeBeGeeky is now two years old. Whooopideee dooooo! I promised myself I'd do something special, but I haven't been maintaing the site, just the server. So if you have any ideas, let me know at wbgadmin(at)gmail(dot)com.
Anyhow, other than that, I posted some games on the game tab, seeing as Bunchball discontinued their widgets on may 5th. I guess I need to keep up a bit more. 10-4 good buddies. |

Hello again. So WeBeGeeky has been deteriorating due to lack of updates and the such. The migration to Joomla left the comment module intact, but totally disfunctional. I uninstalled it and it's still showing up, which is bizarre. Mail stopped working after the Joomla migration, and I never got the volition to get it working again. I have a feeling that the new install will get that working again. The database isn't loading users correctly, and among other things updating has become a gigantic pain in the ass.
Due to this, I will be re-building a new Joomla site, and pointing to this one for reference. After all there is two years of content on bere.
It will allow me to move to the latest modules and updates, and free me from having to update this crappy hacked together build. The content will all still be here for reference, just under a child directory of the parent website. This will be happening sometime soon. I'll be running an SMF bulletin board as it's easily integratable into Joomla now, and they have regular updates, plus a huge and feature rich community. That was the BB I was going to use, but it was difficult to get working on Mambo two years ago.
So that's the long and short of it. Expect this to happen sometime very soon. I'll keep you posted.
Also I just found This for all you Halo fanboys out there. Discovery Channel is making a Halo movie, and it looks incredible.

Well now, it's been a while. And the fact that you can read on ZDNet what I logged in to post means a lot of people know about it and it will likely force AOL's hand, but czech THIS out. All you have to be is logged in and accepting messages and via the AOL client someone can execute any arbitrary code. That means force you to download a trojan, virus, spyware or just plain email your password file out and you probably wouldn't even know it.
My advice is the same as the author of the article. If you havge AOL messenger installed, either disable it until it's patched or remove it completely and use Meebo or install one of the cross platform IM clients like Trillian or GAIM, that doesn't have the same issue.
I just wanted to say, good luck.........we're all counting on you. |
